Grob G102 Astir

The Astir is made of GRP and has much higher performance than any other glider within our club fleet. It's a single-seater used for competitions or longer cross-country flights. This is the most advanced glider within our fleet.

Schleicher AS K8

The K8 Single Seat glider is a single-seat aircraft, ideal for the newly qualified solo pilot. It is the first solo aircraft you will fly at MGC. It has very similar handling characteristics to the K13. It flies particularly well in light wind conditions, is fantastically stable, perfect for those early solo flights learning to soar. Even experienced pilots find the K8 a delight to fly.

Rotax Falke

The Rotax Falke is a motor glider, it is the only aircraft within our fleet that has an engine. We use it as a tow plane to launch other gliders, subject to availability. It is also used for cross-country navigation training.

The Junior is of glass fibre construction designed for the intermediate pilot progressing from the K8 to their first glass glider. Very stable in flight, an excellent soaring machine, and comfortable to fly.

SZD-51 Junior

Schleicher AS K13

The club owns two of these. The ASK-13 is a two-seat training glider, originating from Germany. It is probably the most commonly used training glider in Europe, over 700 have been built. It is made from a mixture of wood, fabric, and fiberglass. It has 'dual controls', meaning that both the instructor and the trainee have their own set of controls for the aircraft, allowing the trainee to learn freely, safe in the knowledge that the instructor can take control immediately, if needed.

SZD-50 Puchaz

Our newest training glider, the two-seat Puchaz has dual controls for training and is also fully aerobatic. This allows for excellent advanced training opportunities and some fun flying!
